Motability

• There are nearly two million people in the UK who qualify for the Higher Rate Mobility Component of the Disability Living Allowance and are therefore, eligible to join the Motability scheme.
• The Motability scheme works just like regular hire-purchase, except the government allowance is redirected to cover the monthly payment.
• There are over 3,000 models on offer from a range of major manufacturers; everything from a Renault Clio to a Saab convertible. The Motability scheme also includes insurance, tax, servicing, breakdown cover and tyre and windscreen replacement.
• Motability is a registered charity and relies on fundraising to bring in the money needed to continue awarding grants to those in need. This year alone they must raise over £2.5 million.
