Why we don't supply second hand boot hoists

Car boot hoists are the ideal solution for wheelchair or mobility scooter users. They allow for easy loading, unloading, stowage and transport of the mobility device to and from the boot of your car with just the touch of a button. From first glance, buying a used car boot hoist may sound ideal but in the long run you could be stuck having to pay a lot more, here’s why.

Safety

Many claim that the used car boot hoists are in ‘working condition’ or ‘as good as new’, but this isn’t strictly true. This is because no one really knows what sort of condition the hoist is really in, how it has been treated or used. Was the hoist serviced regularly? This lack of information means you can’t be certain that the boot hoist is 100% safe anymore. It could break at any given time and potentially cause damage to your mobility device and vehicle or even cause physical harm to you.

Compatibility

Buying a used hoist may not even be compatible with the mobility device and/or the vehicle you have. Our Autochair car boot hoists are bespoke to each vehicle and mobility device combination to ensure that you can lift the mobility device you want as well as maximising the boot space in your vehicle.

However, this means that it’s not always possible to take a hoist out of one vehicle and fit it to another different vehicle meaning you could get stuck with a hoist that you can’t even use.

Quality

Autochair are ISO 9001 registered – a quality management accreditation which requires a quality control system of testing to ensure our products are of the highest standard. To maintain this standard of quality, we are unable to buy back or sell used adaptations. This also means we don’t fit second hand car boot hoists either and are unable to help you if you have a second hand hoist.

Peace Of Mind

With a new Autochair car boot hoist you receive post sale support to ensure you get the very best out of your new purchase. We offer 3-year guarantees, so you can be sure that if anything were to happen, you’re covered and in safe hands.

When purchasing a second hand boot hoist you won’t receive that peace of mind. You won’t be covered if something were to happen which could cause a lot of stress and hassle as well as incur pretty hefty costs.

Make sure you're in safe hands by speaking with a member of our helpful team on 0800 009 2300  to advise you on the right boot hoist for you.
