Autochair get the Royal Treatment
During her recent attendance at
the Mobility Roadshow on 4th – 6th June, at Kemble Airfield, Her Royal
Highness The Duchess of Gloucester stopped to visit the Autochair stand.
As patron of ASBAH (Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus),
Her Royal Highness has always shown an interest in innovation to aid
those who need help with mobility to lead a more independent lifestyle,
something which Autochair has been championing for over 30 years.
Derbyshire
based Autochair are one of the UK’s leading vehicle adaptation
specialists. They were at the Mobility Roadshow to feature their product
range with two fully adapted vehicles and staff on-hand to assist with
product demonstrations. They were able to show the Duchess their product
range, including the new Smart Driving Control range, which they
launched at the event.
The new Smart Driving Control range of
vehicle adaptations includes three new products, all of which were on
view at the Roadshow for public demonstration.
SmartDrive has been
developed for people who are not able to operate their foot pedal. It is
a push-pull control designed for hand operation of the brake and
accelerator pedal in automatic vehicles.
The SmartTwinFlip provides
operation of the conventional accelerator pedal on either the left or
right side of the brake pedal in most automatic transmission vehicles.
Finally,
SmartSteer is the latest innovation to be added to the Smart range.
SmartSteer has been developed to assist those drivers that find driving
with two hands difficult, or who can use only use one, as it puts the
vehicles secondary controls at the driver’s fingertips.
Commenting
upon the Mobility Roadshow, Felicity Atkin, Marketing Manager at
Autochair is enthusiastic, "The Mobility Roadshow was a great showcase
for Autochair to launch the new Smart Driving Control range of products.
Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester was extremely interested
in the work that Autochair have been doing for the last 30 years, making
life easier for the less able bodied, their carers and families. Over
the 3 days for the show, our stand was a big hit with more visitors and
enquiries than ever before.”
